I was mostly right! When I got Amanda up this morning she had 3 curlers on the top of her head. Eden had just a few on the bottom that were falling out but the rest stayed in. Surprisingly, Ashley’s hair was dry! So, here’s how their hair looked today.

I promise Eden is only 4. I think she looks a lot older though.

I wish I would have gotten a picture of Ashley’s hair before she went to school, but as I was walking into the office to get the camera I saw her carpool pulling up to the driveway and I didn’t have time. So this is what her hair looks like after going through 2 really windy and slightly rainy recesses. It was a lot curlier.

Remember those annoying sponge curlers Mom always made us sleep in but made our hair so cute! I remember one time on the Fourth of July, we were living in Texas and it was a Saturday. We went to a park to watch some fireworks, but since the next day was Sunday Mom put those pink sponge curlers in my hair and I hated it. I was going out to a public place where a ton of people were going to see me. I was maybe around 6 or 7 years old and I was certain being seen by other people with sponge curlers in my hair would ruin my life. So we get to the park and we’re sitting around waiting for the show to start when a truck full of teenage girls drives by and I hear one of them say “Oh look! That girl is soooo cute with those curlers in her hair!” With all of her friends saying various things like “oh that is so cute” or “aww!” Needless to say after hearing that I thought I was the coolest kid at the park!

Now, here’s what I’m thinking will happen. Amanda’s hair is just too thin and too short to really have curlers stay in them and she’s never really slept in them before. So she’ll either have me take them out, or all but the top one or two will fall out leaving most of it very straight, but I couldn’t leave her out or she would have thrown the world’s biggest fit. Eden has slept with curlers in her hair before and what usually happens is the bottom half of the curlers fall out and the top ends up really really curly. I guess it’s because her hair is always short. Now for Ashley, the problem isn’t the curlers falling out. It’s the hair not drying all the way. Even though I barely spritz it with water it never dries so her hair ends up looking… well… sometimes weird. So I’ll post pictures later of how all their hair turned out.

This was kind of a bitter sweet weekend for me. Paul was home! But I knew it wouldn’t last. So, while he was here we had a lot of fun! Paul got in late Friday night and I made him one of his absolute favorite meals, Lasagna! It was so wonderful to just sit and talk with him. We talked about anything and everything. We do talk to each other everyday, but that’s on the phone or a video chat which just isn’t the same.
On Saturday we all kinda slept in, mostly me. Once we were all ready we headed down to Bridal Veil Falls for a picnic and hike. Bridal Veil Falls is a very beautiful place that has 2 parks next to it. So for the picnic we went to Nuns park.
As you can see, we went the easy route and just got fast food.

After our wonderful picnic was over we headed to the play area just down the road! We ALL had fun there!

After about an hour or so of playing we decided to go hike up the path to the falls. It’s a very easy paved trail so it wasn’t too difficult for the girls. As I said before, the falls are beautiful and the girls had a blast!

I don’t know how many of you have tried and tried to get one good shot of all your kids, I assume most of you have, but there’s always at least one of them who doesn’t want to cooperate. In the picture above, Amanda isn’t looking at me, Ashley is slouching and Eden was crying but managed a smile just at the right moment. So, no this isn’t a great picture of them and I took several more trying to get at least ONE good shot. Paul was even standing behind me trying to get the girls to look up and smile, with no luck. I got enough shots to do head swapping, but I’m feeling a little lazy and didn’t do it. For me being a photographer, I think it’s kinda pathetic that I have a hard time getting good shots of my own kids.
Back to more pictures of the day!

The girls really loved having their dad home again!

We took Paul to the airport Sunday early evening. I kept telling myself I wouldn’t cry. Then as I was hugging him good-bye I could feel the tears trying their hardest to make my mascara run, but I fought them back. I didn’t want to make things anymore difficult by crying, so I was strong and held them back till Paul was about 15 feet away from me. I did my best to wait till I was back in the car before I really let loose.
WE REALLY MISS HIM!
I just wish the government would decide exactly what their doing with the whole “bail out” stuff. Our realtor was telling us that with all the confusion, people aren’t buying because they don’t know if they can. I just wish the house would sell.
