What a beautiful weekend! General Conference was inspiring, the weather was gorgeous (to me anyway) and we had some fun!

Saturday’s weather was totally cloudy and rainy, I loved it! It’s probably a good thing I love rain since we’ll be moving to Washington state when the house sells.

Sunday’s weather started of a little rainy but cleared for awhile to beautiful blue skies. My original plan was to go up the canyon on Saturday but because of the awesome rainy weather we postponed it to Sunday.

We’re about a 7 minute drive to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon and this spot is about 5 minutes up the canyon. So it wasn’t a long drive at all.

I wanted to take my really nice camera, but I knew I’d be helping the girls over rocks and other bumpy terrain which means they would’ve gotten clocked in the head several times, so I just took our dinky little point-and-shoot camera. Which I’ve discovered from this trip has a permanent blurred spot. I guess we’ll need a new one.

So here are some of the pictures I took. The girls absolutely loved it once they got use to the bumpy ground. We got out of the car and Eden was terrified of walking. She was so worried she was going to trip. But by the end of our little hike the girls were running around.

Amanda: Mom, do I need to worry about this thing in front of me?

Amanda: Come on Mom, quit taking so many pictures and just walk.

Ashley: See my pretty leaf!
Eden: I have one too.
Amanda: I want one!

Ashley: YAY!
Eden: Too much effort, I’ll just drop one leaf.
Amanda: What am I looking for?

If you look closely you can see snow on that mountain top!

Ashley: Come on, let’s just go, Mom’s taking too long with the pictures.
Eden: I got her keys out of her pocket during the last picture so let’s go to the car.
Amanda: Can I drive?

Hair Hair, Beautiful Hair

I seem to be on a hair blogging kick these days. My last 2 posts were about hair, so a third one will round it out nicely and then hopefully I’ll be done blogging about hair for awhile.

While we watched and listened to the first session of general conference this morning we had some fun with our hair, although all truth be told my hair still isn’t done.

Eden is sporting a lovely twist crossover style! I was going to do messy buns with the ends of her 2 pigtails, but they covered the “x” too much so I left them loose and curled the ends of her hair.

Ashley has a very simple yet sporty look. It’s basically a ponytail that’s been flipped using a “Topsy Tail”. It’s a lot easier to do if you use a topsy tail. But instead of having the hair tuck into the top and hang down I tucked it going up under the elastic so the hair has a “poofed” look about it. There are instructions that come with the topsy tail that show you how to do several different styles.

As for Amanda, since her hair isn’t all one length yet and she still doesn’t have very much of it, she’s wearing a simplified version of Eden’s hair, only without the twists.

And here are just a couple of other styles I’ve done on Ashley’s hair. The style with the ribbon laced through it I got off of http://girlydos.blogspot.com/.

Hopefully for now it’s adiue to hairdos on my blog for awhile. But then again, I know I’ll keep trying things so I’ll mostly likely keep blogging them. Sorry.

The Results

I was mostly right! When I got Amanda up this morning she had 3 curlers on the top of her head. Eden had just a few on the bottom that were falling out but the rest stayed in. Surprisingly, Ashley’s hair was dry! So, here’s how their hair looked today.

Eden was so excited to show her teachers her curly hairdo, and Amanda is too young to realize that her hair is really only curly up top. They loved it all!

If you look really closely, you can see Amanda’s hair is curled on the top with a bit of extra body on one side.

I promise Eden is only 4. I think she looks a lot older though.

I wish I would have gotten a picture of Ashley’s hair before she went to school, but as I was walking into the office to get the camera I saw her carpool pulling up to the driveway and I didn’t have time. So this is what her hair looks like after going through 2 really windy and slightly rainy recesses. It was a lot curlier.
